PoCo Inspired: Tell us a bit about yourself

Sandy: I'm a grandma of an amazing 4 year old girl and 1 year old boy. My aunt used to bring me to her parents house and they were into making jewellery. I loved watching them and hoped that some day I could do that too. Now, I can't wait to retire someday so I can devote every day, all day to creating!

PoCo Inspired: When did you first start making jewellery and what was the first piece you ever made?

Sandy: Eight years ago my daughter took me to a national craft store chain for a class and we learned how to make earrings. I've been creating ever since!

PoCo Inspired: What inspires your creativity when making a new piece of jewellery?

Sandy: Usually I'm Inspired by something I see on the internet. I'll look at something and think I can make it better by doing this or that and so i try it. Sometimes it's an epic fail but other times I get a really fantastic piece of jewellery out of it!

PoCo Inspired: What is the single most important skill you have learned and why?

Sandy: This is a hard question to answer. Every skill I've learned is important. I think the most important skill is figuring out that all skills are transferable to other mediums. I'm now using jewellery making skills in my leather crafting. I think the most important advice I can share is that quality materials make quality work and the right tool for the job makes the job easier!

PoCo Inspired: What challenges do you face in your work?

Sandy: Time! There is never enough time to create. That's the biggest challenge. The next biggest challenge is learning that my pieces are worth what I charge for them. It is sometimes hard to accept that you can actually charge for your work.

PoCo Inspired: What is your biggest achievement so far in your business?

Sandy: Selling my first piece. Just knowing that someone thought my work was good enough to buy it was my biggest achievement.

PoCo Inspired: Where can we find you to shop online or in-person?
