Business Name: Chantal Bishop Rosaries and Gifts

PoCo Inspired: Tell us a bit about yourself
Chantal: I am an Artist born in Selkirk, MB and have lived in Winnipeg most of my life. I always dreamed of making art and being independent and creative. I feel so blessed to have such a great community who supports me and encourages me to live this dream and share my passion for my faith and my art.

PoCo Inspired: When did you first start making jewellery and what was the first piece you ever made?
Chantal: I first began making Rosaries and Rosary Bracelets after I had major surgery seven years ago. I couldn't walk for several months and while I was recovering, I decided to use all the money I had to buy supplies from a little Rosary shop online. From a couple videos and lots of trying out different things, I taught myself how to put them together. Right away I was asked to make some for a Bible class and it never stopped from there. I have learned so much more since I began and I still fall more in love with it every day!

PoCo Inspired: What inspires your creativity when making a new piece?
Chantal: I always try to let the Holy Spirit move through me and inspire my designs. I also fall in love with the color and texture of the beads and the beautiful medals I use in my pieces. Each piece has a life of it's own and I try to let it be a really unique organic expression. I love it because I am always surprised at the outcome!

PoCo Inspired: What is the single most important skill you have learned and why?
Chantal: In my journey of making Rosaries and Rosary Bracelets I have learned to let go of control. I have found a beautiful freedom in the discipline of the Rosary prayers and of following that structure in my designs. I love that every piece is like a piece of armor and I have learned to go with whatever inspiration comes to me, to make pieces that are totally unique and perfect for the person that will love them.

PoCo Inspired: What challenges do you face in your work?
Chantal: I always struggle to keep up with my creativity and my big dreams. Finding the time to just relax and create is my biggest challenge. There are always so many beautiful pieces I am so excited to make!

PoCo Inspired: What is your biggest achievement so far in your business?
Chantal: My biggest achievement is currently just living everyday as an Artist, doing what I love! Every new project and every new piece I make fills my heart with such happiness that I know I am the luckiest woman to be on this creative adventure. Through a lot of hard work and really committing to my vision, I am so happy to now be able to create beautiful pieces that bring people joy and comfort. I truly appreciate every step along this journey and I am so proud of myself that I always held onto my faith in this work.
