By registering for a workshop,
You acepting our workshop policies.
Workshop Registration
Workshop fees must be paid in advance to hold a student’s spot on the list.
You must register online.
There are no refunds unless WE cancel a workshop.
If you would like any additional information about the workshops we offer, or if you have a request for the kind of workshop you would like us to offer, please send an email to cb@pocoinspired.com.
Cancellations and Transfers
Cancellation of a workshop is possible, with at least 48 hours notice prior to workshop start date.
The student will receive a refund in the form of store credit.
Cancellations made with less than the required notice will forfeit the entire fee. Sorry, no exceptions.
Once a guest instructor’s workshop is confirmed to run, workshop fees are non-refundable.
The instructors come in just to teach the workshop.
They make time out of their schedule to do this.
They have already put in a ton of time and effort PRIOR to the class to put together a curriculum, instructions, and often supplies or kits.
For our workshops to run, a minimum of students need to be registered.
If there are not enough students registered 2 days prior to the workshop start date, we reserve the right to cancel the workshop.
Any paid students may have the option to schedule a private lesson with the instructor, be moved to a new workshop or be refunded the workshop fee.
Reminders for all Students
All students must read and understand Poco Insired’s Workshop Registration policies above.
Please write the workshop dates on your calendar.
Pick out materials at least 15 minutes prior to the workshop.
Please arrive at least 10 minutes earlier than your workshop is scheduled.
For your safety: tie your hair back, wear Cotton (non-synthetic) clothing, no flowing clothing, no open toe shoes for any of the metal workshops.
Bring an apron; we use many chemicals that can harm clothing.
Torch workshops are designed for students aged 16 years or older.
The minimum age limit for other classes is 14 years or older.
Drug and Alcohol Policy
We have a ZERO tolerance policy when it comes to any substances whether they are recreational or prescription.
We may work with sharp metal, or tools.
We swing hammers.
We use needles.
We use torches.
And many other things.
What you do on your own time is your own business.
But while you are taking a workshop at our store, we ask that you remain sober.
If you are impared in any way, you become a danger to yourself and those around you.
If we suspect that you are under the influence of any substances
or are impared in any way,
You will be expelled from the workshop.
You will NOT be refunded.
In this six-part wprkshop, Prairie Owl Beads will take you through the step-by-step process to make a pair of modern slipper moccasins.
What will you learn?
- designing your beadwork pattern;
- patterning for any foot;
- cutting and sewing liners;
- cutting fur from a pelt;
- aligning and assembling your lining, leather, and fur.
Everything to make a complete pair of moccasins from start to finish (and be able to make more in the future should you wish!).
This workshop provides a fun and welcoming environment, where stories will be told, and laughter will be shared. Join us for an interactive and engaging session, connecting with others and leaving with a sense of fulfillment and gratitude.
Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned crafter, this workhop is open to all! Just a friendly heads up: some experience with sewing and/or beadwork will be helpful to keep things on track. Participants are expected to attend all sessions to complete the project, and a bit of "homework" may be required to ensure everything is finishted on time!

These will be available for purchase at the first workshop, so each participant can customize their moccasins to their liking. You can expect to pay around $125 for these supplies, depending on your choices/foot size. Or you are free to bring your own.
About Prairie Owl Beads:
the four Desrochers sisters - Julie, Danielle, Gabrielle, and Roxane - are French Metis, raised in Saint-Boniface. With over a decade dedicated to honing their beadwork skills, they have deepened their connection to their Metis roots, culmination in the founding of Prairie Owl Beads in 2020. The sisters celebrate the cutural significance of beadwork as a vital form of storytelling and self-expression, honouring their heritage and ancetors. Through engaging workshops and demonstrations, they share their passions and expertise wht the community, inspiring others to reconnect with their own roots. Prairie Owl Beads embodies their collective journey as artisans, seamlessly blending traditional techniques with a modern touch, while fostering a strong sense of community and cultural pride.
